Customer reviews and what they say

The most important thing we can do to improve our service is listen to what our customers have to say, which is why you can now read their comments unedited on our website.

Upon returning from Southeast Asia all our clients are sent a review form and here you can see what they are saying about their experience of travel to the region and of the service we offered both during the trip planning process and in the build-up to the trip.

Search the reviews, check the image gallery and see for yourself how our clients rate the InsideAsia experience.

All the boutique hotels were comfortable and well located except the one in Kuala Lumpur, Villa Samadhi. It was located in isolated place with KL's diplomatic area.

We asked for a tour covering particular areas in Malaysia over 3 weeks. This was arranged as requested by Jess and we had a lovely holiday...from Borneo and orangutangs to start with then on to sophisticated and modern cities Kuala Lumpar, Ipoh and Penang.. and finally a chill out on the beach in Lankawi. The only area we chose that was a disappointment was the Ramen Negra National Park where the most exciting creature to be found was a stick insect. Their award winning forest canopy walkway was closed, the salt lick hide was closed and they have not given an introductory video there for two years apparently.
Plus the number of visitors and building works going on in camp and along the river frontage ensured there was not a bird or animal for miles. Very disappointing.

But Inside Asia found us some fabulous hotels along the way. An oasis of calm and luxury in the diplomatic quarter of the busy city of KL, Villa Samadi, a 20 room boutique hotel was a wonderful surprise. The Weil in Ipoh was by contrast a large modern high rise hotel with every luxury, including panoramic views from the rooftop infinity pool. And the historic Areca Hotel in George Town, the rooms spacious and it's charming indoor garden terrace with 30 foot palm trees were the three best . But all accommodation was good.

The food was delicious in all accomodation . With a variety of tastes catered for..from super hot spicy to fairly mild. Plus we enjoyed finding our own lunches and dinners..and found both delicious and great value food easily.
Malaysia is a predominantly Moslem country with large Chinese and Indian origin populations. It seems a busy ,peaceful and tolerant country. The people were all welcoming.. Malaysian hospitality is famous...and friendly. I strongly recommend as a place to explore and learn about.A fascinating holiday. Thank you Jess and Inside Asia.

Thank you Jess. Please read my feedback as Taman Negara was a mistake...not your fault as we asked for it..but so you can inform colleagues. I have given clear feedback on the rest. You did a great job.

See first feedback. Villa Samadi,KL, Weil in Ipoh and Iveco, George Town are the 3 stand outs.
But jungle in Borneo. Sepilok..specially good for Orangutangs and the Sukau Lodge and Casa del Mare also outstanding in their own ways too.

Overall the trip was very well planned. Some of the information in the cities guides was not complete and there was a mix up with a reservation (which was quickly handed), but overall we were happy with many of the suggestions and activities planned. Compared to many travel agencies they always make you feel a valued customer and are very good at giving the experience a personal touch.

Rhian was kind and prompt in assisting us and tailor the trip to our request. There was unfortunately a mix up with a reservation but it was quickly handed.

Accommodation
★★★

The first accommodation (Gracery Hotel Seoul) was excellent and set the standard very high. The traditional stay in Gyeongju was a bit more uncomfortable than what we expected (very noisy, touristic environment, not great bathroom facilities) but it might be because we expected something different and more similar to a Japanese ryokan, which was unfair on our part. The biggest disappointment was the Felix hotel in Busan: staff was rude and unwilling to provide information, the room was dirty (we found an old slipper surrounded by several dust bunnies under the bed, sign that it wasn't cleaned in months at least) and one night the alarm woke us up at 4am, which was very scary, and the only explanation was of "a malfunction". The 9brick hotel back in Seoul was ok and in a nice location, but breakfast was very poor: there were only two choices of food (both with meat) and they didn't have tea, only coffee and hot water (and what's the point of having hot water if you don't have tea bags??), which was weird and quite annoying in a 3 stars hotel.

The trip was meticulously organised by the Travel Consultant (Rhian) and most everything about the trip was enjoyable, and took into account that I was a solo female traveller. The arranged tours were interesting and the guides were friendly and knowledgeable. Overall, the entire trip was well worth it!

Rhian was very attentive to details/requirements of the trip as a solo female traveller and kept in regular contact with me even until my arrival in South Korea. She is very knowledgeable about the country and this helped my enormously with my choices of destinations when planning the trip.

The guides were mostly great. There were a number of 'Disneyland-esque' activities that we could have done without. In the pre-planning we asked to not have them, yet they were left in. We were told we could negotiate them out with our guide, which didn't happen.

Grant worked well with us, including what we wanted, and not what we didn't. However, we specifically asked for no Disneyland activities, like the Community Village stupidity that we were forced to endure for 2 days. What a waste of time and money.
Our guide wouldn't take it out even though we were clearly agitated by it. These sorts of inclusions, without ability to remove up front or during, would make us question using InsideAsia again.

Accommodation

The PJ Hotel in Seoul was a disappointing stay. As I mentioned to Karin directly, it is quite run down and the rooms were barely clean and the ac didn't work properly. After asking for maintenance, they still couldn't fix the problem. It was quite warm during our nights there and we felt like it wasn't up to the standards most people traveling on this trip would accept. Compared to the The Gate Hotel stays in Japan, there is a huge difference in the quality. I know PJ is centrally located, but surely there are other nicer hotels centrally located, even if more expensive. I think most of your customers would expect a higher class of hotel service.
