Family adventuresA time to reconnect. Recharge. And throw the routine out the window.Travelling as a family is thrilling – but not without its challenges.Different ages, different needs and different energy levels mean every family holiday is unique. That’s where we come in. We'll create a trip with you, around your family. And Asia is full of incredible places to travel with children. Easy, relaxed family holidays take thoughtful planning – from working around Asia’s shifting seasons to keeping travel times kid-friendly. Some families prioritise downtime – poolside afternoons and soft adventure. Others lean towards planned activities: ziplining near Angkor Wat, crafting chocolate in Chiang Mai, or walking beside elephants in Laos. Our team has been there – we’ve stayed in the hotels, met the guides, and tried the activities – so we’ll help match the right experiences to your family’s pace and priorities. We’ll suggest places where even the everyday becomes memorable: spotting monkeys from a tuk-tuk, snacking on fresh papaya at the market, or learning to use metal chopsticks in a Seoul backstreet eatery. And because where you stay matters too, we’ll recommend places that make it easy to recharge – whether that’s a jungle treehouse, a riverside homestay, or a hotel with a pool.Tell us what makes a good day on holiday, and we’ll build a trip that ticks the boxes – with space for the moments you didn’t even know you were looking for. A family cultural adventure in Vietnam and Cambodia Made for the Turners family, by LucyThe Turners came to us looking for a family adventure in Southeast Asia during the August school holidays. They weren’t fixed on where – just keen to share some quality time together before the new school year kicked off.We shaped a trip through Vietnam and Cambodia that combined light adventure with space to slow down. With longer stays and minimal rushing, the kids loved kayaking past floating schools and fishing from bamboo boats. The whole family walked with elephants and uncovered ancient temples. It was hands-on, meaningful and fun – a chance to reconnect and explore somewhere completely new, together.See their trip The Turners came to me with two weeks to travel and a real appetite for something different. We shaped a trip around making memories – exploring Cambodia and Vietnam in ways that felt fresh and unexpected, but always with a slower, softer rhythm that matched the season and their style. Frequently asked questions What sort of room do we need? When you’re travelling with children in Southeast Asia and it comes to choosing where to stay, there’s more to think about than how big your hotel room needs to be. After a day exploring Siem Reap temples or navigating Bangkok, you’ll want somewhere comfortable to relax and recharge.Consider the space you’ll realistically need and those little extras that will enhance your experience. That could mean a buffet breakfast included at your hotel so you don’t have to get straight up and out in the morning, or a hotel pool the kids can splash about in. If your children are a little older, you may choose a suite to really space yourselves out in.If you want to make where you stay part of the experience, there are some really fun, immersive alternatives to hotels. Treehouses in Khao Sok National Park, traditional hanok in South Korea or a jungle bubble in Chiang Rai.Speak to your travel consultant to book what’s best for you. What’s the best age to travel with kids in Asia? Honestly? Any age. From toddlers to teens, Asia is packed with family-friendly experiences – you just need the right pace and plan.Little ones might love slow mornings in Luang Prabang, nibbling on sticky sweets from the market. Older kids can paddleboard down the Mekong, and teens will get a buzz from zipping through Siem Reap on the back of a Vespa. And if you’re travelling with under-twos, they usually fly free – which is a bonus. One of our top tips, especially with younger children: less is more. Fewer destinations means less packing and more time to relax. Some properties and experiences do have age restrictions though, so check with us before promising a jungle sleepover. And wherever you go, make sure you’re up-to-date on any vaccination requirements for your kids. Won’t my kids find temples boring? Anything historical or vaguely “cultural” can make kids and teens groan. But, the temples of Southeast Asia aren’t just crumbling old buildings. Cambodia’s Angkor Wat temple complex, for example, holds snake-dangling, monkey-clambering, giant-faces-in-the-jungle, Indiana Jones-style temples. And, if they need further enticing, we can plan for a non-temple focused activity for afterwards, like zip-lining, rice-planting, or visiting the hero rats of Siem Reap, who safely clear landmines. Is travelling with toddlers really worth the hassle? A fair question, but we truly believe it is. Our chief people officer, Tom, did plenty of family holidays when his children were young:“Travelling with children can be challenging, tiring and, at times, infuriating – but the huge benefits outweigh any negatives. People generally have no hidden agenda in their desire to help, and at times it can seem as though you’re travelling with a mini celebrity, offered fruit and toys wherever you go.“My suggestions are to pack some surprise toys for the flight: something new and exciting you can whip out if you sense a meltdown brewing, remember to bring your babby carrier and pushchair (they’re free on planes and mean you don’t have to stop exploring while they nap); and, where possible, to travel before your children turn two – they'll travel for free on planes, and cost almost nothing at hotels.”
