Key facts
Transport in detail
Most transfers will be by private car, with the exception of a return boat journey between Sihanoukville and Song Saa Island, and a four-night cruise on the Mekong.
What's great
This trip includes some of the very best luxury experiences and properties available in Cambodia
All transfers are overland, so you’ll see much more of the country than you would on domestic flights
The itinerary moves at a leisurely pace, so it’s perfect for those who like to take their time
You’ll see all of Cambodia’s beautiful rural landscapes: palm-fringed rice paddies, vine-entangled temples, charming villages and towns, and tropical coastline and islands
Things to consider
It’s not a great idea to stay on the beach during monsoon season (May to October)
The journey from Song Saa to Phnom Penh to fly home is over five hours, so you might want to reconsider if long journeys aren’t your thing
The cruise itinerary will change depending on if you cruise during high water (Sept - Nov) or low water (Dec - Aug)
The experience
This itinerary includes the crème de la crème of Cambodia, but it’s far from set in stone. Want to see or do something specific? Fancy an extension in Laos or Vietnam? We can organise almost anything you like — all you need to do is ask.
Day 1-3
Siem Reap
Every visitor to Siem Reap is here for the temples, but few get to experience them like this. Accompanied by an Angkor archaeologist, you’ll begin by touring the park in a vintage Jeep, combining the most famous spots with a few lesser-known gems that most tourists miss. These jungle-clad temples are just as spectacular as those nearer town, but because of their remoteness they rarely see visitors. It makes for an unforgettably atmospheric experience.

Highlights
Enjoy an Angkor tour with a difference, accompanied by an archaeologist in a vintage Jeep
Take in the scale of the Khmer Empire at some of the most remote Angkorian ruins
Relax by the pool and enjoy some of the many pampering services at your luxurious Siem Reap accommodation

Day 4-8
Mekong River Cruise
Getting off the beaten path usually means roughing it — but not on this trip. On a luxurious vessel, cruise from Tonlé Sap Lake to Phnom Penh, stopping off along the way to take part in carefully chosen excursions, including meeting silversmiths, potters and silk weavers at work in floating villages and visiting sacred sites and monasteries.
On board, you can take a dip in the on-deck plunge pool or watch the Mekong River landscapes float by from your own private balcony. Then, it’s back to dry land for a tour of the capital, visiting Khmer Rouge sites and the French Quarter, before returning to your boat for a traditional Apsara dance.

Highlights
Sit back and relax as you cruise down one of Asia's most famous waterways
Explore the cottage industries and traditional handicrafts of rural villages
See the sights in Phnom Penh
