Day 1-3

Bangkok

Gold statues at Grand Palace in Bangkok
Highlights:

Explore Bangkok’s different communities with one of our expert Insider guides

Get to know the city, using the public transport network to connect some of our favourite areas

Watch Bangkok light up at night from a dinner cruise along the Chao Phraya

Take a day trip to Ayutthaya and visit eccentric Bang Pa-In Summer Palace

As one of the most visited cities in the world, nowhere does hospitality like Bangkok. With one of its lavish hotels as your base, you’ll dive deep into the royal and religious heritage of the city – touring the various communities that call the city home with one of our expert Insider guides, making a day trip to the UNESCO-listed Ayutthaya Historical Park and Bang Pa-In Summer Palace (old summer haunt of the royal family), and spending time on the Chao Phraya (the lifeblood river that flows through its heart) with a semi-formal dinner cruise.

Transport

Day 1:
Car transfer from Bangkok airport to city (45 minutes)

Day 2:
Round trip car transfer to Ayutthaya (1 hour each way)

Day 4-6

Chiang Mai

Pagodas on hillside outside Chiang Mai
Highlights:

Visit two of Chiang Mai’s most important yet contrasting religious sites – the hilltop Wat Phra That Doi Suthep and Wat Umong, surrounded by woodland

Spend time with the monks and learn more about Theravada Buddhism in Thailand

Meet a heard of elephants at a responsible welfare sanctuary

Learn to cook at our favourite cookery school in Thailand

Welcome to the “Goldilocks” city: not too big; not too small; perfectly balanced in every way. Or that’s how we feel about it, anyway. Chiang Mai is one of the most popular destinations in Thailand, but we’ve designed an itinerary to give you an alternative insight into the life of the city. Explore its spiritual side as you tour glittering pagodas and hilltop sanctuaries, before heading into the surrounding countryside to meet elephants in a responsible manner (no riding or bathing). Cap that all off with a private cookery class, learning classic northern Thai dishes that are in season, such as Khao Soi Gai.

Ko Yao Noi

Highlights:

Experience Thai living at its laid-back finest on a quiet island in Phang Nga Bay

Relax and unwind on white, sandy beaches beneath the tropical sun

Make the most of top-of-the-range resort facilities with a focus on R and R

Halfway between Phuket and Krabi is Ko Yao Noi. A far cry from its party-happy, highly developed neighbours, this quiet, majority-Muslim island has changed little since the advent of tourism. Beyond your luxurious resort, you’ll find people snoozing in hammocks slung beneath stilt houses, buffalo milling in rice paddies, and local farmers tapping rubber on mangrove-fringed plantations. Sleepy though it is, there’s certainly plenty to do – from indulgent spa sessions to sea kayaking, rock climbing, diving, cycling, or simply relaxing on your resort’s private, sandy beach. This is proper paradise territory, and a highlight of any luxury Thailand adventure. Be warned: you may never want to leave!
