Day 1-2

Mumbai

Highlights:

Explore the sounds and sights of India’s biggest city on an early morning tour at dawn

Enjoy some free time to relax and unwind after the flight, or explore some more yourself from a conveniently located central city base

Welcome to Mumbai, India’s largest city and a thrilling introduction to the country’s energy, contrasts and everyday rhythms. Rise early for a dawn tour, when the city is already in motion: newspapers are sorted for delivery, flower and produce markets come alive, and fisherfolk return with the morning catch. Along the way, your guide will bring the city’s stories into focus, from colonial landmarks such as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and the Gateway of India to the working neighborhoods and markets that keep Mumbai moving.

Back in South Mumbai, the pace shifts between grand architecture, sea-facing promenades and pockets of local life. Spend time around Colaba, admire the Gateway of India beside the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, or wander through atmospheric markets where spices, snacks and street-side conversations offer a glimpse of daily city life.

Mumbai is fast-paced and full of contrasts, so a centrally located hotel gives you an easy base for settling in after your flight or heading back out to explore. Use your free time to relax, try the city’s excellent food scene, stroll along Marine Drive or dove deeper into the galleries, cafés and heritage buildings of South Mumbai.

Aurangabad

Highlights:

Explore the UNESCO-listed Ajanta and Ellora Caves, including the remarkable Kailasa Temple

Unwind at a luxury boutique farm stay surrounded by dramatic scenery and rural Indian charm

From Aurangabad, you’ll explore two of India’s most extraordinary UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Ajanta and Ellora. Ajanta is known for its ancient Buddhist cave paintings, carved into a dramatic horseshoe-shaped gorge, while Ellora brings together Buddhist, Hindu and Jain rock-cut temples, including the remarkable Kailasa Temple, carved from a single mass of stone.

Your guide will help bring the sites to life, from Ajanta’s murals, monasteries and prayer halls to Ellora’s sculpted pillars, courtyards and vast temple façades. The scale, craftsmanship and spiritual history of these caves make this one of the cultural highlights of the journey.

Between visits, slow the pace at Dhaanya Farms, a boutique farm stay set in peaceful countryside close to Ellora. The stay offers a gentler side to the region, with warm hospitality, fresh seasonal food and space to unwind after time spent exploring the caves.

It’s a rewarding balance: days spent among some of India’s finest rock-cut art and architecture, followed by quiet evenings in a rural setting shaped by nature, local produce and the slower rhythms of farm life.

In Nashik, settle into Beyond by Sula, a tranquil vineyard retreat set amid the rolling hills of Gangapur, with views across the lake and surrounding countryside. The setting gives this part of the journey a slower, more indulgent pace, with time to relax by the pool, take in the vineyard scenery and enjoy the easy rhythm of India’s best-known wine region. During your stay, enjoy a complimentary tour and tasting at Sula Vineyards, learning how the wines are made before sampling a selection in the tasting room.
