Day 1-3

Bangkok

Bangkok Skytrain
Highlights:

Get to know the different flavours of the street food scene with an evening tour

Take a cookery class with a different focus, learning about Thai desserts

Experience the very best of Thai cuisine with dinner at a Michelin-starred restaurant

Bangkok has some of the finest food experiences in the world, so there’s no time to lose! Travel by Skytrain, ferry, longtail, tuk-tuk and metro to experience the city at all hours of the day — sipping kafae boran coffee in the morning, slurping pad thai at lunch, and sampling all manner of dumplings, noodles, pancakes, soups, curries, snacks, desserts and drinks long into the night. Though there’s a focus on food (of course), you’ll also get a feel for the city’s disparate neighbourhoods at sites as diverse as a glittering mosaic-covered temple, and a teeming morning market. To cap it all off, dine at nahm: frequently ranked as one of the top restaurants in the world.

Transport

Day 1:
Car transfer from Bangkok airport to hotel (1 hour)

Day 4-5

Sukhothai

Sukhothai historical park
Highlights:

Take a guided tour of UNESCO-listed Sukhothai Historical Park and see ruins of the first Thai kingdom

Learn local dishes during a cookery class with Miss Na.

It’s a long day of travelling through rural Thailand — by way of the markets and wats of Uthai Thani — to reach Sukhothai, but the journey’s worth it! Here, you’ll stretch your legs on a cycling tour of some of Southeast Asia’s most beautiful ruins, dating back to the 13th century and including magnificent giant Buddhas, red-brick spires, and temples reflected in ornamental lakes. Later, you’ll meet Miss Na at her lovely home surrounded by gardens, and learn to whip up some classic Sukhothai recipes passed down through the generations. This is the cradle of Thai culture and civilisation, and you’ll soon find that its legacy extends to much more than bricks and mortar.

Transport

Day 5:
Car transfer from Bangkok to Sukhothai (7 hours + sightseeing)

Day 6-9

Chiang Mai

Tricycle in Chiang Mai
Highlights:

Get to know Chiang Mai's different aspects with a tour of the city's sacred sites and a street food tour sampling regional delicacies

Travel by songtaew minibus, saleng tricycle taxi, train and bicycle to a cookery class in the countryside

Learn about the many surprising uses of elephant dung as you tour rural Chiang Mai on the back of a Vespa

Learn about tea cultivation at the beautiful Araksa Tea Garden

Thailand’s laid-back northern capital couldn’t be more different from hectic Bangkok, but it’s just as packed with food-filled adventures. Visit an organic farm and learn to make a traditional Lanna meal on a charcoal fire. Snack on exotic fruits at Thai farmhouses while you tour the countryside on a vintage Vespa and sample deep-fried taro and coconut pudding on a night-time street-food tour. In between these culinary delights, explore jungle temples, glittering stupas, markets, mountains and villages — all of them in and around one of the most beguiling cities in Thailand.

Transport

Day 7:
Car transfer from Sukothai to Chiang Mai (4.5 hours)

Day 10-13

Phuket

Dim Sum in Phuket
Highlights:

Go on a street food tour of Phuket, where Indian roti and Chinese Hokkien noodles meet traditional Thai cuisine

Learn about rum making and mix some cocktails at the Chalong Bay Distillery

Relax on some of the world’s most beautiful beaches

Where better to conclude your culinary adventure than in paradise? You’ve sampled the delights of north and central Thailand, now it’s time to fly south to savour the flavours of Phuket. Staying at one of our favourite resorts, with some of Thailand’s most idyllic beaches at your fingertips, this is the place to abandon yourself to indulgence — whether it’s at the spa, restaurant, or cocktail bar. A Phuket street food tour will introduce the southern take on Thai cuisine, including khao kaeng rice curries, locally grown coffee, dim sum breakfasts and a rainbow of curry pastes, while a tour of a local distillery will showcase rum made with local sugarcane.
