Inside Asia Tours: Vietnam, Cambodia & Laos

Kayaking at Nong Khiaw

Located on a bend of the Nam Ou River in northern Laos, surrounded by jungle-clad mountains, Nong Khiaw is a great base for kayaking.

North of Luang Prabang, Nong Khiaw is a small village on the banks of the Nam Ou river. Laos's natural scenery isn't as well-known as Vietnam's, but that doesn't mean it's not every bit as beautiful. Nong Khiaw has some of the best in the country, with lush vegetation and steep-sided limestone mountains cut through by rivers and peppered with traditional villages.

By kayak is the perfect way to explore this dramatic landscape, taking you to areas unreachable by road and giving you the freedom to disembark to explore under your own steam. You'll have opportunities to explore local minority villages, caves, waterfalls, and jungle - and if you plump for a longer expedition, there's even more to see.
