Hue Festival

Hue Festival

The Hue Festival, held every two years, is a week-long event honouring the culture and history of Hue, the former capital of Vietnam.

Hue's biennial festival is a celebration of the UNESCO World Heritage city's culture. Kicking off with a grand opening ceremony involving music and art performances by home-grown talent and international artists, the celebrations continue for a week. Boat races take place alongside drumming performances, art exhibitions, poetry recitals and historical re-enactments.

There is also a kite day, when the traditional kites that Hue is famous for are paraded through the streets. All this is accompanied by a variety of traditional street food stalls, high spirits and plenty of music and dancing.

When to go: The 10th Hue Festival will take place in April 2018.
