Turtle watching on Con Dao

Turtle watching on Con Dao

The island paradise of Con Dao is home to a protected breeding site for a large population of sea turtles, which lay their eggs from May-October.

The remote Con Dao Islands are largely protected as a National Park, a designation that covers the archipelago of islands and the rich surrounding seas.

The park is particularly renowned for its large population of visiting sea turtles, which lay their eggs on many of the islands between April and September each year. Both endangered hawksbill and green turtles are present here, and carefully controlled numbers of visitors are able to witness their arrival throughout the laying season. Fortunate visitors may also be able to assist in the release of recent hatchlings - a very special experience!
