Inside Asia Tours: Vietnam, Cambodia & Laos

Phu Quoc Island

A trip to Vietnam would not be complete without a few days of relaxation, and idyllic Phu Quoc rates amongst Vietnam's most secluded destinations.

Accessible by plane and just a short flight from Ho Chi Minh City, Phu Quoc is the perfect island getaway. The island is just 50 km long and 20 km wide, and is largely mountainous and densely forested. Most people live and work around the coast, and there are many secluded bays to be discovered, amazing seafood to try, magnificently clear waters to swim in and great diving and snorkeling grounds to take advantage of.

Before tourist came to Phu Quoc it was known for its fish sauce production, quality peppercorns and also for its pearls. Many of the island's roads are still unpaved, and although a considerable amount of development is forecast for the near future, Phu Quoc remains an excellent option for those who want to add a beach break to their Vietnam holiday.

Long Beach on the west of the island is known for its bustling resorts where visitors can enjoy a bit of relaxation during the day and head out for a few drinks in the evening. Our favourite resorts include the elegant, colonial style La Veranda; the secluded Mango Bay Resort and the brand new, luxurious Salinda Resort.
