Inside Asia Tours: Vietnam, Cambodia & Laos

Cooking class at Tamarind

Uncover the secrets of Laotian cuisne with a hands-on cooking class.

Luang Prabang boasts enough excellent restaurants to keep you in foodie heaven for weeks - why not try your hand at creating your own gastronomic delights?

Overshadowed by its renowned foodie neighbours of Vietnam, Thailand and China, Laos goes under the radar for its cuisine. However, you would be mistaken if you thought that its traditional dishes are in anyway inferior. Dishes are often ordered and shared together between the table, which is a fantastic way to enjoy and taste as many dishes as possible.

There are several restaurants in Luang Prabang offering cookery classes, but our favourite has to be the famous Tamarind. Visit a local market with its chef, who will teach you about the ingredients used in the dishes you will prepare, before returning to the restaurant and to start your hands-on class, located in.  Under his tutelage you will create three or four traditional dishes before sitting down for a wonderful self-cooked lunch beside its beautiful pond side garden.
