Inside Asia Tours: Vietnam, Cambodia & Laos

Our team at InsideAsia Tours

The sun never sets on the InsideAsia Tours team (well, maybe on Sundays) and here you can meet the people behind our Southeast Asian tours and holidays.

We have a wide range of backgrounds and interests, but you can be sure that the one thing that ties us all together is a love of travel, foreign cultures and a passionate desire to share that with other people.

From the accounts department, through the travel consultant teams to the tour leaders and guides on the ground, you can rest assured that everything we do is to make sure you have the best possible experience in Asia.

Matthew Spiller

As our Agents Manager, Matt oversees our relationships with the travel agents we work with, helping to ensure that we always deliver the very best holidays across Southeast Asia and Japan.

Having studied Latin American poetry as part of his degree, Matt's plan was to move to South America after university. Instead he found himself teaching English in the coastal samurai town of Hagi, Japan. After his return, Matt joined us as a Japan travel consultant before moving on to take on the role of Agents Manager, where his role covers all of our operations across Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Burma and Japan. Like all of our InsideVietnam staff, Matt regularly revisits the region to keep up to speed with changes and developments - and on his most recent visit in summer 2014 managed to squeeze in Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam.

Matt is originally from Creigiau, a little village just outside Cardiff, but unfortunately living in England and Japan has robbed him of his Welsh accent. His favourite hobbies are drinking cider and snowboarding (he has boarded in the USA, Canada and Europe), and his karaoke rendition of Enrique Iglesias's Hero has been known to reduce listeners to tears (whether tears of joy or pain we won't say).

Matt's top tip for those travelling to Laos is not to be afraid to haggle!

Where is your favourite place in Southeast Asia, and why?

"My favourite place had to be Luang Prabang in Laos. If being really beautiful wasn't enough, it is also really chilled and laid-back - a perfect place to slow down for a few days, enjoy the scenery and watch the world go by whilst sitting in a cafe or bar. The locals are also super friendly!"
