Inside Asia Tours: Vietnam, Cambodia & Laos

Our team at InsideAsia Tours

The sun never sets on the InsideAsia Tours team (well, maybe on Sundays) and here you can meet the people behind our Southeast Asian tours and holidays.

We have a wide range of backgrounds and interests, but you can be sure that the one thing that ties us all together is a love of travel, foreign cultures and a passionate desire to share that with other people.

From the accounts department, through the travel consultant teams to the tour leaders and guides on the ground, you can rest assured that everything we do is to make sure you have the best possible experience in Asia.

Amy Tadehara

Recognising her knowledge and passion, as well as her dedication to creating memorable experiences, Amy Tadehara was selected as a Top Travel Specialist by Condé Nast Traveler in 2019.

Originally from Louisville Colorado, Amy's eclectic interests include baseball, reading, movies, the American Civil War and Japanese pop music.

With a lifelong interest in history, Amy was first drawn to Southeast Asia by Angkor Wat - the relic of an ancient civilisation that once dominated half a continent. But as she read more she became intrigued by the inter-connectedness of the region - how each country had affected its neighbours for better or worse throughout history, and how some things were culturally very similar while others were so different.

Travelling through Vietnam, Amy loved drinking Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk (especially delicious if you have a sweet tooth!) and trying all the different (but equally delicious) banh xeo fried pancakes as she travelled from north to south. Her favourite place in Southeast Asia is Luang Prabang, where she loved the laid-back atmosphere and the fact that it was so hard to get lost (with just one main road). The people were so friendly and kind, and she actually enjoyed haggling (not usually her favourite thing to do!) at the night market.

What's your top tip for travellers to Indochina?

Be adventurous when eating out - Vietnamese food is not all about pho (although granted the ones I had were tasty) and it would be a shame to miss out on the other great cuisine to be found! I'm not a big fan of fish, coming from an ocean-less area, so it was interesting at times to try all the different kinds of river/seafood, especially of the "What IS that??" variety, but inevitably I didn't regret it. Even though I will probably never eat mussels again, it was kinda cool to say I tried it for the first time ever in Vietnam!
