4 night Heritage Line Cruise on the Irrawaddy River

Relax aboard a colonial style steamer on a four night cruise between temple-strewn Bagan and the city of Mandalay

What better way to explore Myanmar (Burma), than gliding down the Irrawaddy, one of Asia's great rivers? The Irrawaddy begins in the north of Burma and flows south for more than 2,000 kilometres (1,200 miles) past many of Burma's most celebrated destinations. During the British colonial era the Irrawaddy was the principle route of transport between the capital Rangoon (now Yangon) and the north, leading Kipling to give it the immortal moniker: "The Road to Mandalay".

This four night cruise is on the Heritage Line's Anawrahta vessel which has the largest cabin space on the Irrawaddy and the highest passenger to crew ratio. The 23 luxurious cabins start at 32 square metres and are decorated with original handicrafts and fabrics from around Burma. Also aboard is a swimming pool, sun deck, spa, restaurant, lounge and bar. As well as sightseeing at various stops between Bagan and Mandalay, there are various cultural activities in the mix, from beginner's Burmese lessons to cooking classes and cultural lectures.
