La Residence Hotel & Spa
The elegant, art-deco La Residence, is widely considered the finest accommodation in the historic city of Hue. Originally constructed in 1930 as the official residence of the French regional governor, the property has been thoughtfully extended in recent years and transformed into a sophisticated but relaxed luxury hotel on the banks of the Perfume River. The Halong Jasmine is one of our favourite boats that cruise the calm waters of Halong Bay. Cabins are compact but attractively finished, many on the upper decks with small private balconies. Bathrooms are private, having walk-in showers and are fully separated from the bedroom area. The public spaces are finished in dark wood, with an open lounge and dining area on the second deck, and a spacious upper sun deck for relaxation between excursions and activities.

My Dream Resort is a leafy oasis situated a 10 minute cycle from the old town in Luang Prabang. This wonderful retreat is set in a lush green garden with lovely views across the Khan River. The hotel offers a number of bicycles guests can borrow free of charge and during the winter months, between November and May, there is a bamboo bridge to walk across taking you from one side of the river to the next. There is also a lovely onsite swimming pool and an open aired restaurant offering a selection of western and more authentic Lao dishes.

The Navutu Dreams Resort is an unexpected oasis situated just outside of Siem Reap. A short tuk tuk ride will take you away from the bustling streets of the town, down a dirt track to the doors of this wonderful boutique hotel. In amongst lush gardens are a collection of white-washed buildings, set around two deep blue swimming pools and a circular, open-walled restaurant in the centre of the resort. This welcoming property has just 18 rooms, all of which are spacious and simply dressed in light tones and natural elements which creates a wonderful sanctuary for guests who want to combine their sightseeing with a peaceful retreat. The hotel also has a lovely Spa and offers yoga classes. There is a free tuk tuk taxi service into town, and you can make your own way back for around $3.
Built in the 1930's by the French this historic building has recently been restored into a charming, seven bedroom boutique hotel. Boasting a great location on the banks on the river, it takes less than five minutes to walk into the heart of Battambang. The building has been beautifully restored and celebrates its colonial features which are found in the lovely tiled floors, the high and ornate ceilings and art-deco furniture. There is a swimming pool to relax beside and a good restaurant on site.

The reception is set beside a huge lily pond and taking a walkway across the water you will arrive to a second building which holds the bedrooms. The rooms are spacious and un-fussy, with plenty of light and splashes of stylish vibrant textiles. This charming hotel offers guests great service, and free bicycles to borrow to go and explore the town and is a great place to stay here in Luang Prabang.

The Bhaya Cruise provides high quality accommodation on the beautiful waters of Halong Bay.
As with many of the boats, the Bhaya offers both one and two night cruising options, with the first day itinerary being the same in both cases. Boarding takes place at around midday, with a seafood lunch immediately following an initial welcome and safety briefing. The boat sets sail through the sublime scenery of the Bai Tu Bay during lunch, and reaches the shore excursion destination mid-afternoon. The itinerary may vary depending on season and weather conditions, but a regular stop is at the remarkable Van Vieng fishing village, a floating community resident in a sheltered bay in the midst of the limestone karst peaks. You will transfer from the main boat to small sampans, and be rowed through the village to the spectacular cave mouth through which the locals access the sea. On return to the boat time is at leisure to swim or sit back and enjoy the wonderful setting. Evening meal is at 7.30, after which you can try your hand at squid fishing if the mood takes you.
