Inside Vietnam: Cambodia Laos

The Living Land

Learn traditional farming methods on this organic farm in the countryside just outside Luang Prabang.

The Living Land farm, which specialises in organic vegetable and rice farming, opens its doors to anyone who wishes to find out more about traditional farming techniques in Laos. Depending on the time of your visit, get stuck in with the planting, harvesting or ploughing using the traditional water buffalo method, then learn about the 14 stages of rice production (the final being the eating!)

The farm works closely with the Agricultural College of Luang Prabang and gives employment opportunities to people with low educational achievements, many of whom belong to ethnic minorities from remote villages where the limited access to education can be a barrier to employment.

You can visit the farm for a morning or afternoon, or take advantage of their homestay facilities and stay for longer.
