Inside Vietnam: Cambodia Laos
Phare Circus

Phare Circus

The Phare Circus is a fantastic social project with a troupe of world-class acrobats, who have taken their innovative performances all over the world.

Originating in the north Cambodian countryside around Battambang, the Phare Circus is a highly professional troupe of performers who tell stories through the medium of dance and acrobatics. Their performances, which are set to music and subtitled in English, French and Khmer, address weighty social issues - but are light-hearted, funny and always entertaining, with truly impressive choreography and death-defying acrobatic stunts.

The project has three stated social missions: providing employment for young Cambodians from disadvantaged backgrounds, providing financial support for the Phar Ponleu Selpak School, and contributing to the rebirth of Cambodian modern art - which was decimated by the Khmer Rouge regime in the 1970s. But don't imagine that these worthy ambitions get in the way of a good show - the Phare Circus is a real treat, and guaranteed to be a highlight of your trip!
