Snorkelling and diving at Cham Island

Snorkelling and diving at Cham Island

With such an incredibly long and beautiful coastline, it is no surprise that Vietnam boasts such a great range of snorkelling and diving opportunites.

Some of the finest snorkelling and diving in Vietnam is to be found just off the coast of Hoi An in the Cham Island Biosphere reserve. The area, which covers over 200 square kilometres, contains 8 islands and is home to soft coral and interesting invertebrates, as well as eagle rays, sea snake cucumbers or even a barracuda or two.

Access to the islands is by speedboat to the picturesque fishing village of Bai Lan, where you can then swim, snorkel or dive the day away. The visibility is at its best from June to August, and you can visit on a day trip from Hoi An or stay for longer, taking advantage of one of the local home stays that have recently popped up on the islands.
