Inside Vietnam: Cambodia Laos

Explore Dalat's coffee and tea plantations

Vietnam is one of the world's biggest coffee exporters, and much of the highlands surrounding Dalat in Central Vietnam is given over to plantations.

The central highlands of Vietnam provide the ideal climate for growing tea and coffee. Although it may not have the same international reputation as coffee producers like Colombia or Kenya, Vietnam has become one of the biggest exporters of coffee in the world - second only to Brazil.

The Vietnamese themselves are great coffee-drinkers, enjoying the earthy tastes of the local brew both iced and hot, sweetened with evaporated milk. Those driving to or from Dalat will pass through great plantations of both coffee and tea, and depending on the season will see countless tarpaulins laid out on the roadside where coffee beans dry in the sun.
