Inside Burma Tours
Putao and the remote north

Putao and the remote north

The great forests of northern Burma are home to an outstanding diversity of birds, butterflies, orchids and more.

In the remote and mountainous regions of Burma there remain vast tracts of pristine forest, home to many of Southeast Asia's last significant populations of large mammals. Many of these regions are inaccessible, but a taste of the wild can be found in northern Kachin State around the towns of Putao and Myitkyina.

Encounters with the large native mammals are rare, but the flora, fauna and spectacular environment in the foothills of the Himalayas make the journey well worth the effort.
