Two-day trek from Kalaw to Inle Lake

Two-day trek from Kalaw to Inle Lake

The rolling hills of Shan State are lovely walking country, and with Inle Lake as your goal this two-day hike gets you out into glorious countryside.

From the former British Hill Station of Kalaw there are number of wonderful trekking options available. Amongst our favourites is the classic two-day guided hike through the Shan hills to Inle Lake.

The route passes through the delightful rolling landscapes of Shan State, a mixture of cultivated farmland and forest, interspersed with numerous villages of the different minority groups who reside in the region. Break the journey with an overnight stay at Htee Thein Monastery - a simple but memorable experience where you have the opportunity to join the monks in their daily routines.

The second day of the trek leads down to the shores of beautiful Inle Lake, where your luggage will be waiting at your hotel. This isn't a strenuous trek, but a decent level of fitness and good footwear is required.
