Lapped by the warm waters of the Bay of Bengal, the beautiful stretch of palm-fringed coastline at Ngapali remains one of Asia's most delightful and untouched beach destinations.
“If the beaches of Thailand are starting to feel a little mainstream then Ngapali is the place for you! Get here before the crowds find it!”
Enfys Maloney, Sales Team Leader
For the most part, development in Ngapali has been sensitive and in sufficiently low density for the feeling of glorious desert-island isolation to remain intact. The small town of Thandwe is the gateway to more than 24 kilometres (15 miles) of beach, lined with bungalow-style beach resorts at intervals generous enough to ensure that you can nearly always find an empty stretch of beach to enjoy.
Ngapali is at its best from November to March, yet even at peak season the area has a sleepy, small-town atmosphere that makes it the perfect place to relax. Although probably Burma's favourite beach location, this area is decidedly and refreshingly off the standard travellers' trail, boasting all the tropical beauty of Thailand's coast without the attendant swarms of tourists and gap year backpackers.
The local airport offers connecting flights to Yangon and other popular destinations around the country, so a few days of relaxation in Ngapali is an easy and relaxing addition to any Burma itinerary.
