Covid FAQs

Thinking about a holiday to Asia in the post-pandemic world? You’ve probably got a few questions — and we don’t blame you. This is new territory for all of us.

First, let us say this: we will never send you to Asia unless we believe that it is absolutely safe to do so.

We’ve spent the pandemic doing everything we can to prepare the way for a safe return to travel, and we are constantly adjusting our protocols in keeping with the latest health and safety advice. We’ve also introduced a Book With Confidence policy, which means you have complete flexibility and financial security in case coronavirus threatens to scupper your plans.

You’ll find the answers to some frequently asked questions below, but if you don’t find the information you need here, please feel free to contact us.

It’s important that you are aware of the potential outcomes should you test positive on arrival or while you are in destination. As regulations are constantly changing, we will provide you with up-to-date guidance in advance of departure. Please note that while our in-destination teams will support you in accessing any medical care and support you need, any costs associated with testing, care or quarantine will need to be covered by you or your travel insurance provider. Travel insurance is a requirement of all bookings with InsideAsia Tours and InsideJapan Tours.

Asia continues to relax its entry requirements, and this is changing on a monthly, if not sometimes weekly basis. It is possible to visit most of the Asian countries in our portfolio, however, there are still some restrictions and conditions associated with travel. We are working closely with our local partners to remain agile and up to date with the regulations. We will provide you with the latest information and advice for the destinations that you are looking to visit.

You can find our complete flexible booking policy here and our general terms and conditions here.

You can book your trip to Asia now! To travel imminently or whenever you are ready. With the exception of Japan, all the destinations we offer are open for international tourism. While foreign travel to Japan is currently not permitted except for special circumstances, recent talk of relaxing entry restrictions means that there is a genuine prospect that travel will be possible in the near future. Whichever destination on our website you chose we can help you get there. Sign up for our newsletter to get the latest updates on travel status.

If changes to the government entry requirements of a country you are visiting (or returning from) prevent you from travelling as planned, you can choose to either rebook your trip for a later date; switch to an alternative destination at no charge; or receive a full refund.

At present the majority of destinations are stipulating travellers must be fully vaccinated, with a few exceptions. Some have a requirement for travellers to have received their booster shot, whilst others are happy with the initial 1 or 2 doses of vaccination. Check with us for the latest information on travel status.

If, within three weeks of your date of departure, you find you are unable to travel because you are either prevented from leaving your home country by government guidance, or unable to enter the destination country due to visitors not being permitted, you can choose to either rebook your trip for a later date, switch to an alternative destination at no charge, or receive a full refund. Additionally, if you are prevented from travelling due to personal reasons related to the Covid-19 situation* and are unable to claim on your travel insurance, we will provide free rebooking or a full refund.

Travel to Asia is possible (with restrictions and conditions) and we are expecting some more positive news to come from Japan in due course. Talk to us and we can help you start planning your trip.

For the majority of our destinations there are no quarantine requirements for fully vaccinated travellers. This advice is unclear at present for Japan, and we won’t know until they announce the opening of the borders and requirements for international travellers.

Whether or not there is official guidance preventing you from travelling, or if you wish to change your trip dates or destination, then talk to your Travel Consultant and we will help you with the best course of action and this can be done up to three weeks in advance of your original departure date. With rapidly changing restrictions and regulations, we are on hand to give you the latest information and advice on changing your trip.

We are monitoring entry requirements to, and home from, our destinations very closely. If required at time of travel, we will provide information and support about arranging testing. Costs for any tests are not currently included in our trips.

One of the conditions under which we accept bookings is that our clients take out adequate travel insurance against medical and personal accident risk. While we are not able to advise on specific policies, please check with your provider very carefully as to what will and will not be covered, including for Covid-related expenses or disruption to travel.

Please refer to our Covid booking guarantee here

If any member of your travelling party becomes infected with Covid-19 one month or less before your trip commences, this is covered by our Covid booking guarantee. In the event that you are unable to claim on your travel insurance, you can rebook your trip for a later date at no charge, or receive a full refund.
